Somerset County Ballot Drop Boxes Open for November 3 General Election

Somerset County ballot drop boxes are open for voters returning vote-by-mail ballots for the November 3, 2026 General Election.

The Somerset County Board of Elections announced that all county ballot drop boxes opened September 15, the same day the Somerset County Clerk began sending vote-by-mail ballots to voters. Ballots may be returned through a secure drop box until 8 p.m. on Election Day, when polls close.

The drop boxes offer voters an alternative to returning a completed ballot through the mail. Residents using a drop box should make sure they use an official Somerset County location and allow enough time for the ballot to be deposited before the November 3 closing time.

The county also reminded voters and residents that New Jersey’s no-electioneering zone has been extended from 100 feet to 200 feet. The 200-foot zone applies at both polling locations and ballot drop box locations. The rule is intended to protect voters’ access to the ballot and reduce disruptions during the voting process.

Voters are encouraged to review official county election information before casting or returning a ballot, particularly if they have questions about vote-by-mail procedures, drop box locations, early voting or their polling place. Current information is available through Somerset County and the Somerset County Board of Elections.

This notice is provided as public-service information for Somerset County voters in Green Brook, Warren and Watchung as the General Election approaches.
